FOR WHAT IS IT TO DIE?

Sculpture - Death.png
This is one of my early sculptures inspired by Kahlil Gibran's words from The Prophet On Death: "For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?" (Plaster, hand-painted with earthly images, and hanging by a gold thread ~ height 30".)

It took me over three months to create. And I loved it. It used to hang from a gold wire above a corner table in my cottage outside Bath, UK. I would revolve it, winding the wire up, and for the rest of the evening it would spin gently. Unfortunately I lent it to a friend who had an accident and it was broken in pieces. I still miss it. Time to let go.
