I've greatly admired Keith Urban since seeing him on The X-Factor some time back. He seemed like such a good and genuine person who had his ego well under control. More recently, I watched some of his live concerts on DVD and was blown away by his talent as a performer, his musicianship, and the way he relates to and honours his audience. I painted him in sepia tones because, despite his fame (which is massive in the US) and the contemporary nature of his music, he exudes old-fashioned values. I have huge respect for him and truly enjoyed creating this painting.
